Why You Must Set the Standard: A Model’s Journey to Self-Worth & Empowerment
It’s one of the biggest lessons I realized in my modeling career:
“You set the standard for how others treat you”
I remember bending over backwards to meet expectations
Doing whatever it took to stay at the modeling agency
To get the next photoshoot, approval, and recognition on the red carpet
I let people take advantage of my kindness, time, and energy
Because I thought, as a woman, that’s how you are “professional”
But if they can’t treat you the way you truly wish to be treated?
They don’t qualify to be in your life
It’s not about being cold or distant, it’s about valuing yourself enough to know your worth
Even when others don’t see it
In the modeling world, they’ll tell you how to look, act, be
So I had to set my own standards
Suddenly, I was no longer willing to settle for less
I no longer was available for people who didn’t appreciate me
I certainly didn’t tolerate anyone who didn’t treat me kindly
And I stopped chasing validation from people who didn’t see my value
3 tips to improve self worth:
1. Use Genki System™️ daily [Comment “GENKI” for more info 👇🏻]
2. Tap your belly + say you love it
3. Put a picture of your childhood self on your bathroom mirror
I started treating myself with the care + respect I deserved
Speaking kindly to myself, loving myself, and taking care of myself with Genki System™️
And that’s when the right people + opportunities showed up in my life!
So know that you don’t need to lower your standards to present yourself as worthy
Just say:
“Next!”
The ones who see your worth will rise to meet your energy
So set the standard
Honor yourself first
And the rest will follow
Love, Kelly
